The Chadbourne Family in America: A Genealogy

Compiled by Elaine Chadbourne Bacon for the Chadbourne Family Association (CFA) and edited by Deborah L. Chadbourne, the book was published in 1994.

Thoroughly researched, the book has some 900 pages and over 10,000 individuals in it's every-name index.

It replaced a 1989 Chadbourne Family Draft Edition (comb-bound) and renders obsolete Wm. Morrill Emery's 1904 61-page Chadbourne - Chadbourn Genealogy.

Chadbourne Family Book Supplement available NOW!

Note: A CD-ROM version of the book issued in year 2000 is still available with not only additions and corrections to the book, but many added features, described elsewhere.

The following libraries should have copies of the book:

A copy of this 1994 out-of-print book may be MAILED TO NEHGS MEMBERS by their New England Historic Genealogical Society, which maintains a Circulating Library in addition their permanent collection at 101 Newbury Street, Boston, Mass. 02116. Phone 617-536-5740 for information.

(An e-mail addr. at Carnegie Branch is wendyh@boulder.lib.co.us) ALSO see entry below.
CO - Boulder 80301 ? - Our records indicate a book intended for Colo. Historical Society may have been sent to a Boulder address. There's no branch of CHS there. We'll check if one reached the Boulder Public Library (see block above).

BUT this location has no record of the book we thought we sent them, saying they may have disposed of it as not about a family primarily from Colorado, It may have been sent elsewhere (without a record) or might have been in one of many unindexed boxes of books they intend to dispose of, but a helpful young man later spent a lot of time and could not find it. He said if they can get one they will keep it, but that it would be found by more people if one went to the public library across the street (see top Colo. entry)

OUTSIDE USA: [only one book as of 1999]

ENGLAND - Tamworth -
TAMWORTH Reference Library (Tamworth's Public Library), east of Manchester in central England, a few hours NW of London, near the border of Warwickshire and Staffordshire, the home of the Chadbourne 1630s immigrants. (This book was first presented to an official, now deceased, of St. Editha's Church. It's that church whose baptism and marriage records of our Chadbourne immigrants disprove the alternate origin site of Winchcombe listed in the generally superb Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and NH by Noyes, Libby and Davis.) Call ahead to confirm location and hours.

There are NO books in CANADA or AUSTRALIA, home of other Chadbourn(e)s, who also originated in England.

If you wish to make gift of a book to another well-located library with a good genealogy collection, e-mail your request to Howard Kaepplein, Chairman of CFA Editorial and Publication Comm." or write him, 33 Jacobs Gate Road, Harvard, Mass. 01451, whose phone is 978-456-3637.
